Dries Boele

Dries BOELE was an art student and studied philosophy in Amsterdam and Paris. He has been involved in the Dutch movement of practical philosophy since 1983. In 1990 he opened his practice as a philosophical counselor and other forms of philosophical practice, such as Socratic dialogue and Dilemma training. Since 1995 he gives training workshops for facilitators of a Socratic dialogue. He works with civil servants, police officers, physicians, prisoners, coaches and managers, and offers seminars (also as a summer holiday in Holland, France and elsewhere) on the philosophy of the art of living. In Hotel de Filosoof (Amsterdam) he organizes a philosophical café and reading groups. He published numerous articles in the field of his main research, such as : The “Benefits” of a Socratic Dialogue,  Or: Which Results Can We Promise?   (Inquiry: Critical Thinking Across the Disciplines, Spring, 1997. Laura Candiotto

Laura CANDIOTTO, docteur en philosophie avec une thèse sur Platon et la rédaction des dialogues socratiques : stratégies, interlocuteurs et buts (Venise, 2011), est en séjour post-doctoral à l’université Ca’ Foscari de Venise où elle assistante de recherche en philosophie théorétique dans le Département de philosophie et patrimoine culturel. Sa recherche est principalement consacrée aux dialogues socratiques et à leur analyse littéraire et socio-politique. Outre Platon, ses intérêts se portent sur les questions d’éducation et de philosophie à destination des enfants. Récemment elle a orienté sa recherche en philosophie contemporaine dans le champ de la pratique philosophique dans des contextes d’éducation et a mis en œuvre plusieurs pratiques philosophiques reposant sur les dialogues socratiques. Elle coordonne depuis 2005 les activités de la CBO- Cooperativa Sociale Insieme. Elle a participé à de très nombreux séminaires et colloques et est l’éditeur (en collaboration avec L.V. Tarca) de  Primum Philosophari. Verità di tutti i tempi per la vita di tutti i giorni (Milano-Udine, 2013). Parmi ses publications récentes, mentionnons :  Le vie della confutazione. Olav Eikeland

Olav EIKELAND, is a Norwegian philosopher and working life researcher. Since 2008, he is professor of work research and research director for the Program for Research on Education and Work at Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences. Since 2012, he is also vice dean of the Faculty of Education and International Studies. He was a researcher at the Work Research Institute from 1985 to 2008, and served as the institute's director 2003-2004. Leon de Haas

Leon de HAAS is full-time philosopher and philosophical practitioner in the Netherlands and Germany (PlatoPraktijk.nl). He studied philosophy (Drs., 1977) and mass psychology & mass communication at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He worked as a philosophy teacher at the University of Amsterdam and the The Hague Academy for Social Work, and as a freelance philosophy researcher at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. Since 1976, he has been practicing philosophy in the context of community development, and, from 1990, as an organization consultant and leadership coach. He is the editor of ‘Philosophical Practices’ of the Dutch/Flemish Journal ‚Filosofie’ He is also member of the Board of the Berufsverband für Philosophische Praxis (BV-PP) / Professional Association for Philosophical Practice, Associate member of the Board of the Internationale Gesellschaft für Philosophische Praxis IGPP / International Society for Philosophical Praxis (portfolio international affairs). He was project manager of the 10th International Conference on Philosophical Praxis in The Netherlands (2010). Among his numerous publications, it is possible to mention : Situations & Experiences. Anne Herla

Anne HERLA, docteur en philosophie de l’université de Liège, est enseignante et chercheuse en philosophie dans cette même université. Elle est co-fondatrice de l’asbl PhiloCité. Ses domaines de recherche principaux sont la philosophie morale et politique, la philosophie de l'éducation et la didactique de la philosophie. Elle est également animatrice d'ateliers de philosophie avec des enfants, des adolescents et des adultes. Parmi ses travaux récents on peut mentionner : Hobbes ou le déclin du royaume des ténèbres. Politique et théologie dans le Léviathan, Paris, Kimé, 2006 ; « La discussion philosophique en classe : une pratique de l'émancipation ? »,  Tracés. Revue de sciences humaines, 25, 2013.

Gaëlle Jeanmart

Gaëlle JEANMART est docteur en philosophie de l’Université de Liège. Spécialisée en histoire de la philosophie ancienne et médiévale, particulièrement dans les domaines de l’éducation et de la morale, elle est l’auteur de Herméneutique et Subjectivité dans les Confessions d’Augustin (Turnhout 2006) ; Généalogie de la docilité dans l’Antiquité et le Haut Moyen Âge (Paris, 2007) ; Du courage. Une histoire philosophique (Paris, 2010) [en collaboration avec avec T. Berns et L. Blésin] et de Le mensonge et les vertus de la vérité. Une histoire (Turnhout, 2012). Elle est membre fondateur de PhiloCité, Université populaire de Liège, dont elle est actuellement la secrétaire générale.

Valéry Laurand

Valéry LAURAND is a lecturer at the University Montaigne Bordeaux and junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France. His research focuses on ancient philosophy and especially politics in the Hellenistic and Roman philosophies and on "free speech" ( parrhesia ). He directs the Research Center SPH (Science Philosophy Humanities , EA4574 ) . Among his many publications, note : La politique stoïcienne, PUF, 2005 and Stoïcisme et lien social, enquete autour de Musonius Rufus, Garnier 2013. 

Lou Marinoff

Lou MARINOFF is Professor and Chair of Philosophy at The City College of New York. He is also founding president of the American Philosophical Practitioners Association, and editor of its journal Philosophical Practice. Marinoff has authored internationally
bestselling books (including Plato Not Prozac!, translated into twenty-seven languages) that apply philosophy to the resolution of everyday problems. He has collaborated with global think tanks and leadership forums such as the Aspen Institute, BioVision (Lyon), Festival of Thinkers (Abu Dhabi), Horasis (Zurich), Soka Gakkai International (Tokyo), Strategic Foresight Group (Mumbai), and the
World Economic Forum (Davos).

Isabelle Pariente-Butterlin

Isabelle PARIENTE-BUTTERLIN, ancienne élève de l’Ecole normale supérieure, agrégée de philosophie, est Professeur à l’université d’Aix-Marseille, où elle dirige le département de philosophie. Elle consacre sa recherche à l’éthique et aux questions de méta-éthique entendue comme métaphysique de l'éthique. Mentionnons parmi ses publications :  Le Droit, la norme et le réel (Paris, 2005) ; L’éthique kantienne résiste-t-elle à son explicitation ? (Besançon, 2014).

Thomas Polednitschek

Thomas POLEDNITSCHEK a étudié la philosophie, la théologie et la psychologie à Bonn, Münster et Munich. Depuis 1884, il exerce comme psychothérapeute en psychologie et depuis 2001 comme praticien philosophique en pratique active propre [eigener Praxis tätig ? qu’est-ce que ça veut dire : qu’il exerce comme praticien philosophique avec une pratique active qui lui est propre (qu’il a inventée ?)]. Kristof van Rossem

Kristof Van ROSSEM, (Belgium, 1969) is Master in Science of religions and Master in philosophy (KULeuven, University of Amsterdam and of Uppsala). He works as an independent trainer in practical philosophy in different organisational settings : companies, schools, social welfare organisations, political parties, prisons, hospitals, governmental organisations,…. His is specialized in applying variations of Socratic dialogue in reflection- and coaching processes. He published several articles about the topic.
He is leading an annual training course in Socratic dialogue facilitation. He has been engaged in adult education and is currently teaching philosophy and ethics at the Highschool-University of Brussels (HUB). He is teaching teachers of philosophy at the University of Leuven (Higher Institute of Philosophy). His philosophical interests are : philosophy of education, humour, practical philosophy, Socratic dialogue, rhetoric and women philosophers.

Livio Rossetti

Livio ROSSETTI a été professeur de philosophie grecque à l’université de Pérouse pendant presque 30 ans. Professeur honoraire depuis 2009, c’est à son initiative que s’est tenu à Chieti en 1981 le Symposium Heracliteum, et que se tiennent les Symposia Platonica depuis qu’il a fondé l’International Plato Society à Pérouse en 1989. Fondateur des rencontres Eleatica en 2004 à Ascea-Elea (SA), des Socratica en 2005 à Senigallia (AN), et de l’association Amica Sofia en 2008 à Rome, il anime depuis ces dates ces rencontres régulières. Il a consacré une grande partie de sa recherche, outre à Platon et Xénophon, à Socrate, aux dialogues socratiques et à la littérature socratique en général, en portant une attention particulière aux questions de stratégie rhétorique, de théorie rhétorique, de logique informelle, de macro-rhetorique et de communication. Il s’est également occupé de l’articulation de la philosophie avec son appréhension aux divers âges de la vie et notamment dans l’enfance. Plus récemment son intérêt s’est focalisé sur les Présocratiques avec de nombreuses publications sur Héraclite, Parménide, Zénon, Empédocle, et sur les questions de législation en Grèce ancienne, dont il a étudié les thèmes d’Hippodamos à Théophraste. Parmi ses dernières publications, on peut mentionner : Le dialogue socratique (Paris, 2011), Filosofia 2 (Milan, 2013), et, en collaboration, Parmenide: suoni immagini esperienza (Sankt Augustin, 2013).

Bas van Stokkom

Bas van Stokkom, is philosopher and sociologist. He was co-worker of the Centre for Ethics, Faculty of Philosophy, Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He is currently assistant professor at the Criminological Institute, Radboud University, and lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Free University Amsterdam. His research concentrates on the fields of freedom of speech, deliberative democracy, restorative justice, and punishment ethics. He is secretary of the Dutch-Flemish journal Tijdschrift voor Herstelrecht (Journal of Restorative Justice) and co-editor of the studies Images of Restorative Justice Theory (2008), Reflections on Reassurance Policing in the Low Countries (2008), and Public Forgiveness in Post-Conflict Contexts (2011).
